University Template Rules
The University Template will formalize the content of the university site and establish a Web standard for the university.

Services departments will be provided two templates to be set as a homepage (Level Two) and a sub-page to contain all department information (Level Three). Academic departments will be provided with two templates to be used as the main Web page, and a sub-page. All other documents and pages such as application forms, course sites, staff and faculty pages need not use the University Template.

Templates provided at http://www.byuh.edu/webmasters/ should be used. The template folder may be downloaded to your computer. It will then require that you unzip or expand the file.

In addition template styles are controlled by a Cascading Style Sheet which is included with the download. Its function is to control the font, font colors and sizes, margin widths, and general page layout. Therefore, formatting your site is unnecessary; the style sheet will control most elements of the page. The only formatting you will do is bold, italics, and underlines.

Rule — Template To Be Used As Main Page

Reason
The University Template is designed to facilitate overall navigation throughout the University Website. Due to the fact that many visitors enter the university website at different levels, the template will allow visitors to immediately know that the site is associated with Brigham Young University - Hawaii.

Example
Suppose an outside visitor were to enter the university site at this page through a search engine. There is no information to denote that this is part of the BYU-Hawaii website. This page, however, allows visitors to immediately know that the page they are viewing is part of BYU-Hawaii and there are links to other areas of the university site.
