On March 16, 2007 we successfully launched BYU Hawaii's newsroom. The URL for this site is newsroom.byuh.edu. Newsroom is a revamped of the What's New Section of the BYU Hawaii homepage. All stories have been migrated to the new newsroom.byuh.edu . All the stories remained in tact and searchable. This project was initiated and sponsored by BYU Hawaii's University Advancement.
In order to facilitate and improve internal as well as external communication, the BYU-Hawaii University Advancement team has designed a new website. This website is intended to be a one-stop web magazine, a place where current news, past news, upcoming events, and achievements of faculty, staff, and students of BYU-Hawaii will be showcased.
Through the written word, photos, and video clips, the stories of BYU-Hawaii will be captured and presented to a worldwide audience. In the near future, a streaming video channel will be available on this website, providing the opportunity to show appropriate and relevant video content on demand.
Internet communication is a commonly accepted and cost-effective way to convey messages to the world. The message and audience of BYU-Hawaii is uniquely international. Among other positive and uplifting content, ways to promote strong families, international peace (conflict resolution) can and will go from this place to the world. This web magazine, along with a streaming video channel, will be one of the tools to help convey those messages to a world hungering for spiritually uplifting, family-oriented media.
This internet site is tied directly to the media production center that is being proposed. Content for the web site will be created in the media production center, giving students a hands-on experience that is part of the broadcast minor being offered. Several students in the currently offered media production class have said that they want to learn skills that will allow them to influence the media for good in their home countries.
The website, the media production studio, and the media production minor are a three-legged stool, supporting each other and furthering the mission of BYU-Hawaii.
